I am the Messenger
Final Deed
December 16, 2013

Throughout the whole project of doing good deeds for others, I have developed a new sense of leadership because through my good deeds, happiness and gratitude appeared. With the happiness of others, the good deeds will bounce off of one another and more and more people will decide to do little acts of kindness for others. Just like in  I am the Messenger when Ed receives the hearts cards and it was his most difficult battle because it was doing good deeds for people, when I had to do a good deed for someone I one, it became very difficult trying to read somebody and really analyze what they really need. By doing this project, us Marist students, have shown one of the marks of being a Marist student which is to lead. We lead through this project by showing others that little acts of kindness can affect people in the best ways. By executing the last deed, which was buying items in a grab bag, I saw once again how little things can affect someone and make them much happier. By doing this project, I learned the aspect of giving back and helping others, even when they do not ask for help. This project was definitely a very fun way to learn to help others and to give back.

Third Good Deed

Marist students lead
For my third good deed, I made chocolate chip cookies for my new neighbors that just moved in this weekend and they were very appreciative. I made them cookies to welcome them to the block. Ever since I have done this good deed to my new neighbors, they always greet me when I see them on the block. Even though this good deed was a little act of kindness for others, it showed how even a little good deed can go a long way. I choose to do this good deed for my neighbors because I had never met them before and I thought that since they did not know anyone on the block, it would be very welcoming and kind. This good deed relates to Sophie and Ed because although Ed helps Sophie out a little bit, it makes a huge impact on her life. After seeing the looks of happiness and thoughtfulness on my neighbors face, I knew making the cookies for them was the right way to welcome them.

Good Deed #2:

For my second good deed, which was a deed for someone in my household, I helped my mom cook food for my sister's birthday party. My sister and I woke up early and helped make the food while my mom was sleeping and surprised her with having the food almost done. She was very grateful and appreciative. I chose to help my mom with my good deed because out of everyone in my household, I believe she deserved the good deed because she is very stressed out and I could tell that by making the food for my sister's party, she was very relieved. By doing this deed, I was able to put a smile on her face and I learned that through this deed, she became less stressed and happier. This good deed relates to when Ed helps Sophie because although she did not truly express to others that she needed help, she truly needed it. Just like my mom, although she never admitted she needed help, by helping her out with the food, it helped her out. By doing this deed for someone you know very well definitely made it a very fun experience.

Good Deed

Doing this good deed for someone was definitely a very fun experience. I especially enjoyed hearing how this this token of appreciation made her day from others who saw her receive it. Since the name I received was one of my friends, it made it a lot of fun thinking of ways to do a good deed. I received Maddie McHugh. I decided to make her a poster and give her cookies and a little money because I though that she just needed to know that she is appreciated by many. By doing this, I hope I showed her how sweet and kind she is and that people do notice her kindness towards others. The deed I executed is similar to the good deed in "I Am the Messenger" when Ed goes to Milla's house and talks with her and keeps her company because it makes her feel appreciated as I tried to do with my good deed. With this deed, I hope I was able to put a smile on her face. I learned that through little acts of kindness, someone's day can be made.
